The International Christian Youth Conference on Evangelism
(ICYC) is held every three or four years, and is for young
people ages 17 to 30 from all over the world. This youth
event is sponsored by World Evangelism of the World Methodist
Council. In July of 2002 ICYC VII was held in Northern Ireland
with the theme "Christ Jesus, God's Way.” Participating
in the conference were young people from 37 different countries

Rev. Grace Imathiu, a Kenyan-born pastor and international
speaker, began the week-long conference by challenging participants
to "cross the seas" that divide people from one
another. During the week, participants attended sessions
with titles such as "Faith Sharing" and "Jesus,
Young People and Evangelism." They shared in worship
and bible studies led by people from different regions of
the world. Members of the conference participated in mission
projects, went to church and had lunch with local families.
One day included a trip to the famous Giants Causeway, an
amazing natural stone formation along Ireland's northern
coast. An evening was spent celebrating Irish culture, courtesy
of the Irish Methodist Church. The week was full of activities
and each night ended with an ICYC Coffee House where youth
shared music and conversation until late in the evening.
The next
ICYC is being planned for July 2005 in Rio,
Brasil. More information can be found on the
World
Evangelism website of the World Methodist
Council. |
